Vintage Botanicals

Before the days of photographs, plants, flowers and fruits were documented and studied from hand drawings, paintings and prints of botanical flowers creating stunning artworks. They did bugs and insects too but, though interesting, I’m not going to show you those. They were striking representations and we still see copies of them today.

Right now I’m loving those vintage botanic prints and am starting to see them used subtly in all kinds of wedding decor. In invitations, signs, and I’d go so far as to say that the recent unstructured loose bouquets have come from the feeling of those oh so natural and unfussed but still beautiful images.

Here are a few beauties to inspire you

and some images to represent how you can create the style of them. Simple elegant and natural.

If I were to do it again I’d certainly be going with this simple, beautiful and artistic style. Love it. – may have to buy a few prints for my office! Stunning.
